porch
I'll leave 4 folding chairs, a box fan and any games (cards, box games) I can dig up on my porch on Saturday morning. Also, though I won't be here for most of the day, anyone in need of a shady spot with an enclosure - i.e., parents with adventurous toddlers - is welcome to use my porch. Have fun! (Becky 3425)
Preparty results
Two days away from the big day. It's important that this be a group effort. Please contribute ideas and thoughts to this process.
Last night a group of us went to Cranky Joe's to discuss the party and here's what we concluded.
Food: It's been agreed that we each bring our own food and that there's enough of us with grills to bring to the street for cooking. It's going to be a hot day so popsicles or the like would be a good idea. Oh yeah...margaritas!
Drink: Again, bring your own and don't forget water. If you have a water cooler or can get one, awesome.
Games: Here are some of the suggestions...cards, ping pong, ladder golf (Mike 3433), baggo (Mike 3436), $1 raffle (maybe maybe coupons/gifts from local businesses???), video games and TV on an extension cord, football toss, whatever you can think of...
The Heat: It's going to be 90-92. I have some industrial pedestal fans and some smaller box fans. We could also break out lawn sprinklers and get naked.
Other: Tables and chairs, get the cars off the street by noon and sweep the street, anyone have a source for fireworks?, our neighbors Abbey and Jury have their art on exhibit from noon to 3 at the Mt Airy Contemporary Artists Space, 25 W. Mt Airy 19119 (5 min drive). Maybe we can go see that.
Please please please comment on anything either here or to me directly.

Next week?
Hey all,
I was talking with Ed, and we thought it would be nice to get together next week at one of our local east falls establishments to talk about our upcoming event. Maybe Tuesday or Thursday at Cranky Joe's, since Mike is working.... or Wednesday if you'd prefer to focus on drinking rather than serving us drinks, Mike. All are welcome.
Also, I am definitely in on the baggo board tournament. I've already started my pre-tossing calisthenics so I can be in prime form come mid-June. Game on!

New to the block!
What's up everyone...I'm Mike (3436) the one making all the noise at the end of the block next to Ed! I spoke with Ed shortly yesterday and suggested pooling some $ together to buy beer and food. My uncle owns Cranky Joe's on Conrad and I can get beer and food through him at a discount (that was a cheap plug but why I'm at it I bar tend Tues, Thurs, and Saturday nights). I can also get two, maybe more, Baggo Boards and we can have a tournament for Osmond Street bragging rights!

Have 12 signatures so far
I went out last night and rounded up 12 signatures. We need 11 more to satisfy the City's requirement of 75% of the resident's approval. I hope to get some tonight.
Some people won't be around on 6/19 so the possibility of moving the date still exists.

Chat it up with the neighbors
If you see one of our neighbors on the street, ask them to respond to my flyer soon and introduce them to this blog...hmmm, maybe another flyer to point people to the blog...stir up some excitement.

wish I were there! : (
Hi guys - this is Becky (Osmond Becky, not Barkley Becky). Thanks for the blog invite!
I guess you've heard that I have a wedding to attend the day of the block party and won't be here
I'm so bummed, but c'est la vie. I know how hard it is to pick a date that's good for everyone and that things are already in the works so a date change is probably out of the question, but if comes up again for some reason, keep me in mind!
In the meantime, hope to get together with you another time soon...

Flyer responses
Mary Ann of 3412 and Jamie of 3414 have responded to my flyer and will sign our petition/application to block the street.
Music
Ok I'm trying to learn how to blog here so bear with me. As far as music is concerned, I personally don't like to have to shout to talk to people and strain to hear them. I've been to outdoor parties where someone pulls out a pair of house speakers and cranks up the volume to 11. Personally, I'd like to keep the level down for our shindig...just putting it out there. Feel free to comment.
How about we each pick a few of our favorite songs and pile them together into a mix for the party?
